about
Following the book of the Indian novelist Savi Sharma -‘Everyone has a story’ I was fascinated with one of her quotes: ‘People need stories.. maybe you don’t tell them the full truth; maybe you tell them lies. But what is this world? A lie in itself’. My song is about the way we understand or create a reality in which we put together stories we are telling to ourselves and stories other people tell us. I believe that the dissonance between dreams and imagination which sometimes are included in the stories we put in our social media, and the daily difficulties in the ‘real life’ motivated the development of the technology of all kinds of virtual reality. In a virtual reality we can come to terms with our desire to live in an imaginary castle without the need to use masks, veils or simple camouflage.
lyrics
My story is hiding behind the masks
My spirit is hiding behind the facts
Still waiting for the mutual gaze
Crossing a maze
You’re hiding behind an emotional veil
Tearing it up is like 10 in a Richter scale
There’s no glory in a story inside a familiar story
There’s no glory in a story inside a familiar story
I’m closing my profile
I’m closing my profile
Still waiting for the mutual gaze
Setting it up is like crossing a crystal maze
There’s no glory in a story inside a familiar story
You are hiding behind an emotional veil
Tearing it up is like 10 in a Richter scale
Tearing it up is like 10 in a Richter scale
There’s no glory in a story inside a familiar story
Watching beneath the postcard, Camouflage
Walking around the Plage
Playing marbles in the sand
Castle buildings come to an end
There’s no glory in a story inside a familiar story
(Castle buildings come to an end)
There’s no glory in a story inside a familiar story
(Castle buildings come to an end)

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
